Security Warning Issued For All Windows Versions

To maintain security, we're encouraging Sheffield City Region businesses to take urgent action today to mitigate a new Microsoft vulnerability associated with printing.

The exploit, known as "PrintNightmare", has been described as critical because the Windows Print Spooler service does not restrict access, which could allow an attacker who has been remotely authenticated to utilize it to run arbitrary code.

The print spooler, which is enabled by default with all Windows installations, is used to schedule your printing jobs, find your printers, load the relevant drivers and so on.

You should also ensure any personal Microsoft devices that you use have the latest updates installed.
